The latest versions of Silverstack, Silverstack XT, and Silverstack Lab[1] are running fully natively on Apple Silicon (M1) Macs.
Full native support on Apple Silicon (M1)
- Silverstack, Silverstack XT, Silverstack Lab[1] version 8.1 and newer
[1] DNx transcoding mainly native: A non-performance-critical part of the transcoding process will automatically run in Rosetta 2 translation environment. If Rosetta is not installed, a popup appears with the install option.
Support for Apple Silicon (M1)
- Silverstack Offload Manager version 1.3 [2]
- Silverstack, Silverstack XT, Silverstack Lab version 7.4 [2]
[2] While Silverstack 7.4 – 8.0.x and Offload Manager 1.3 are running natively, some features and formats (including Cinema DNG, Panasonic Varicam, Vision Research Phantom, and Canon C300) are only supported when running Silverstack in the Rosetta 2 translation environment. You can select “Open using Rosetta“ in the application‘s “Get Info“ window (in the application icon‘s context menu or via Cmd+I). This is not necessary for Silverstack version 8.1 and newer.
Third-party software and hardware components
Please ensure that all third-party software and hardware components (e.g. card readers, drivers, virtual file systems) in your Silverstack workflow support Apple Silicon (M1) systems. Please check the vendor websites or contact their support for the latest information.
Some incompatibilities that were brought to our attention:
- Some Codex Compact Drive Reader USB-C models
- Some Blackmagic devices (as of Desktop Video 12.2)
