Still image preset panel

The still image preset panel is strongly tied with the transcoding preset panel and can be opened by clicking the presets button in the toolbar. It allows you to create advanced still image presets to export stills from clips.

Still image preset options#

1. Presets#

+ Button
Creates a new preset. The default is 8-Bit JPEG.

– Button
Deletes the selected preset.

… Button
Allows you to duplicate, lock or sort the presets.

Right-Click
Allows you to add, duplicate, rename, delete, lock or sort presets.

2. Settings#

Your current settings for a preset are also indicated by little icons in the top right corner of each preset. This applies for framelines, burn-ins, and overlay settings.

2.1 Still image export settings#

Active checkbox
Enables the preset for the export still image function found under Clip > Export Still Image. When multiple presets are enabled, all presets will be exported.

Image Format dropdown menu
Allows you to set the image format. The options are JPEG 8-Bit, TIFF 8-Bit (uncompressed), or TIFF 16-Bit (uncompressed).

Color Mode dropdown menu
Sets the color mode for the still export. The options are:

• Original Color: Uses the original color settings.
• As Currently Shown in Player: Uses the current color settings as shown in the player.
• Both: Exports both modes as separate files.

Color Profile dropdown menu
Sets the color profile for the exported still image. The options are:

• None: Does not embed any color profile (default).
• Rec. 709: Embeds a profile matching Rec. 709 standard.

Naming Scheme dropdown menu
Sets a naming scheme for the exported still.

Save To / Choose… button
Sets the destination path for the exported still. The → button opens the still location in Finder.

Automatically rename if file exists checkbox
Automatically appends a unique suffix to the exported still’s file name if a file with the same name already exists at the export destination. Will ask how to handle the collision if not selected.

2.2 Scaling, Processing and Overlay settings#

The following settings are identical to the ones of the transcoding preset panel:

• Resolution
• Source Decoding
• Processing
• Framelines
• Burn ins
• Overlay
• ShotID

2.3 EXIF Tags#

Tags the exported still image with EXIF, EXIF (Aux), IPTC and TIFF metadata.

Add Tag dropdown menu
Allows you to select a metadata tag.

… button
Allows you to specify the value that should be saved to the respective tag. Values from the clip library can be used with wildcards.
