Matching looks wizard
The “Matching Looks Wizard” is opened via the color panel, the import menu or the main menu.Go to File > Import > Match Pomfort Looks from Look Archive (pfla)… and select the Pomfort look archive you want to use for matching looks. Files with the extension .pfla are used to exchange looks between Pomfort applications, e.g. Livegrade and Silverstack.
Depending on whether the checkboxes “Take over metadata from looks to matched clips” and “Import unused looks into look library” are enabled, the look matching step consists of either one, two or three steps.

Choose Look Archive…
Opens a dialog to select a Pomfort look archive file.
Fetch Looks from Cloud…
Opens a dialog to select a Pomfort look archive file via ShotHub.
Only use looks with labels
Limit the selection to looks with a specific label.
Match looks with clips by
Sets the criteria for matching the looks with the clips. You can choose between “Creation Time of Look”, “Timecode”, “Episode/Scene/Shot/Take”, “Clip Name”, “Clip Identifier (with Clip Name)”.The clip options allow you to specify if the entire name or only some characters of the name are used for matching. When using “Creation Time of Look”, you can set a timezone offset.
Match looks with clips by camera
Enable this option if you want to take the camera metadata value into account.
Mark Only Selected
Enables only the selected file in the table for relinking. Right-click on the button to change the function to “Mark All” or “Mark Selected.”
Unmark Selected
Unmarks only the selected file in the table for relinking. Right-click on the button to change the function to “Unmark All” or “Unmark Only Selected.”TableThe table shows all items with information depending on the matching criteria. The table can show the following columns: “Library Clip Name”, “Camera”, “Apply”, “Look Name”, “Look”, “Clip Identifier”, “Shooting (End) Date”, “Creation Date”.Underneath the table you are informed about the current state of the look matching, e.g. if looks match or if they are used. Click on an apply checkbox to enable or disable the look matching for a specific clip.
Take over metadata from looks to matched clips
Ingest the metadata values from the looks into the clips.
Import unused looks into look library
If disabled, only looks that match with clips are imported.
Apply Looks
Starts the look matching process and imports the looks into the library.
1.1 Matching criteria#
Match by timecode
This option will match the looks based on their timecode. The look will match to a clip if the look’s “TC In” is before or within the range of the clip’s timecode. Additionally, the looks will be applied to all clips that follow until the next look with a later “TC In.” If a new look has a “TC In” that is within the timecode range of a clip (so the previous look’s timecode ends within the clip), the matching wizard will suggest two looks, but preselects the latter by default.
Match by creation time of look
This option will match the looks by their creation time. The look will match to a clip if its creation date is before the time range of the clip. It will match to all following clips until a new creation date of a look is found that is placed inside the time range of a clip. Additionally, you can shift the timezone if the camera setup was wrong at the time of recording:

Match by episode, scene, shot, take
This option will match the looks by the episode, scene, shot and take metadata values. The look will match to a clip if the metadata for episode, scene, shot or take is equal.
Match by clip name
This option matches the looks by clip name. The look’s clip name has to be equal to the clip name in Silverstack, or you can select to only match by the first characters of the clip name.
Match only the first 8 characters of the clip names
Match by clip identifier (with clip name)
This option matches the looks by clip identifier. The look’s clip identifier has to be equal to the clip name in Silverstack, or you can select to only match by the first characters of the clip name.
Match with camera
On top of the different matching criteria, you can additionally take the camera index/letter into consideration for matching the looks.
As an example, let’s say, you have camera indexes A/B and match looks by timecode. In that case, the looks could apply to both cameras, assuming they have the same timecode. If you enable the checkbox “Match with camera”, the camera index will be considered on top of the timecode and will match the correct looks to the camera specific clips.
2. Metadata import step#
Import checkboxes
Defines which metadata groups should be imported. You can select certain metadata groups that you want to enable or disable. The label’s tooltip shows the concrete metadata fields that are included within each category.
- Slate Info: Camera, Season, Episode, Scene, Shot, Take, Reel Name, Int/Ext, Day/Night
- User/QC Info: Flag, Rating, Comment, Caption, Distance to Object, Custom 1-6
- Exposure Info: ASA, Whitepoint, Tint, ND Filter
- Lens Info: Lens Model, Focal Length, T-Stop, Focus Distance, Filter
- Production: Shooting Day, Crew Unit, Location
Import as Cue Points checkbox
When enabled, markers and ranges are imported as cue points (with duration).
Set In/Out from Best Rated Range checkbox
When enabled, the TC in and TC out point of a clip will be inherited from the best rated range.
Set Thumbnail from Thumbnail Marker checkbox
Updates the clip’s current thumbnail to the position of the thumbnail marker in the look archive.
Insert / Update Behavior radio buttons
Defines if metadata fields are only imported when they are empty or if all metadata fields are overwritten.For markers and ranges:
- Insert if empty: Cue points of type import will only be imported when a clip does not yet have any import cue points.
- Overwrite: All markers of type import will be replaced.
Preview of changes buttons
Filters the view to only show columns that changed, might have a conflict or remain unchanged.
Original button
Toggles a preview of metadata values to be imported.
3. Import unmatched looks step#
This step allows you to import looks that could not be matched against existing clips in the library.
