Audio panel

Silverstack offers audio playback of external or embedded audio for preview and quality check. Audio can also be transcoded in dailies and for editorial, including stereo mixdown or original audio tracks.

This article explains the audio panel which is the main interface for audio processing in Silverstack. It is also related to the audio sync wizard that is used for automatic audio syncing. If you want to learn more about supported audio formats, please view the article about assets in Silverstack. Below you will find all audio settings that are available in the audio panel, which can be opened by a simple click on the Audio & Color button in the top right corner of the main screen.

The audio tracks are grouped into three (expandable) sections:

  • Master
  • Intern
  • Extern

Intern vs. Extern
These groups represent the internally vs. externally recorded sound. The external group is named by the external audio clip when synced.

Master fader
Controls the output signal level of the overall stereo mix.

Audio meters
These represent the audio signal level during playback. There is a stereo master meter and individual channel meters — one for each audio track. The scale on top of the meters indicates the audio level in dB (dBFS). Peaking is represented by a bar in the according color of the peaking level that remains at the maximum position. You can reset the peak bar by clicking on the audio meters.

Channel mixer fader
The volume faders control the signal level for each track.

Note: When transcoding clips with audio and using the combination Linear PCM and All Tracks (Skip Muted Tracks), the muted tracks won’t be exported.
