Canon cameras store metadata in Quicktime movie files and Thumbnail image files (THM). When recording a Quicktime movie a THM file with the same name is automatically generated and placed alongside the Quicktime movie.
For Canon cameras there are two metadata mapping options:
- Colorspace
- Source timecode
The Source timecode can either be extracted from the File create date, the Quicktime header create date or the Thumbnail image file (THM). The Thumbnail image file is the default, since it offers the highest precision.
The Colorspace can either be extracted from the Thumbnail image file (THM) or can be specified manually as either Rec.709 or Cinestyle. The Thumbnail image file is the default, since Canon cameras create a Thumbnail image file containing the correct setting automatically.
