Look matching

While using Silverstack with Livegrade on set to manage clip data and looks, you probably want to combine the created information afterwards. Silverstack offers a solution to avoid assigning looks to clips manually. Instead, you can import and associate looks based on the metadata you already created while generating the looks.

Tip: You can import and match looks to clips automatically using the look matching wizard, but you can also directly import looks without matching them. If you want to do the latter, simply import looks via the look library.

1. Import and match looks#

Make sure all clips you want to match with a look, are registered in the library. To learn more about registering and offloading files, visit the article about configuring a workflow.Select the appropriate bin in the library outline, click the Import button and select “Match Pomfort Looks” to open the look matching wizard.

Looks can be imported in the following ways:

  1. Pomfort Look Archive (.pfla)
  2. Pomfort ShotHub

1.1 Import and match looks via Pomfort Look Archive#

Silverstack can automatically match looks created with Livegrade to clips in the library using the available metadata. To do this, you first need to export a look archive from Livegrade.

Within the look matching wizard, click the Choose Look Archive… button to locate and import the .pfla file from Livegrade.

1.2 Import and match looks via ShotHub#

You can retrieve looks uploaded from Livegrade to ShotHub in order to match them to clips in Silverstack. The following steps need to be done:

  1. Upload shots from Livegrade to ShotHub ¹
  2. In Silverstack, log in to ShotHub with your Pomfort Account credentials ¹
  3. Click the Fetch Looks from Cloud… button and select the bin that should be fetched

Note: If you are not using the same Pomfort account in Livegrade and Silverstack, you need an invitation by the admin to the ShotHub project containing the grading information that you want to access for look matching.

2. Clip matching#

Beginning with this step, the process is the same for look matching with a file or via the cloud. You can choose between different matching criteria:

  • Timecode
  • Creation time of look
  • Episode, scene, shot, take
  • Match by clip name
  • Match by clip identifier (with clip name)
  • Camera index (A, B, C…)

You can decide for each clip if you want to import looks. If multiple looks match a clip, you can decide which look should be imported by clicking the checkboxes in the “Apply” column.The look matching wizard displays relevant information about the state of the clip matching in the section below the table.

2.1 Taking over metadata from looks to matched clips#

The look archive allows you to take over metadata stored in the looks to the matched clips in Silverstack. To do this, enable the appropriate checkbox in the bottom left corner. If checked, it will add an extra metadata step to the look import workflow. Click the Continue button to navigate to the next step, where you have several options for importing and previewing the metadata.

When you are done with adjusting the options for the metadata import, you can click the Apply Looks button to import the looks, metadata, markers and ranges into Silverstack. You can navigate to the look library or the general info’s header tab to view more information about the imported looks (as shown below).

2.2 Import unused looks into library#

When the appropriate checkbox is enabled, this step allows you to select which of the unused looks should be imported into the look library.
