Transfer slate info from audio to video clips

Silverstack XT is capable of transferring slate information from audio to video clips. Similar to the automatic audio sync feature in Silverstack Lab, associated audio and video clips can be detected using timecode matching and slate metadata can be transferred.

To start the process, select the video bin or folder in the library and click the “Transfer Audio Slate Info” entry in Silverstack’s media menu (found in the top left toolbar). Within the following window, select the audio bin you want to transfer slate metadata from. You can view the video clips left of the checkbox column in the center and the audio clips on the right, as shown below.

List of transferable metadata#

The following metadata fields can be transferred:

  • Scene
  • Shot
  • Take

Additionally, the following metadata can be detected on ingest and transferred by using certain keyword namings for custom fields (see also the article Using Silverstack Custom Field Labels to Read Additional Metadata):

  • Audio notes via naming a custom field “Audio Comment”
  • TC Ubits information via naming a custom field “TC UBits” or “UBITS”
Note: You need to adapt the custom field name before ingesting the audio clips in order to trigger the the detection of the correct metadata. Comments or metadata added to audio clips in the library afterwards, will also be taken over during metadata transfer.
