Reset Silverstack's library and settings

In the unusual event that Silverstack cannot launch, you might have to consider reverting the settings to default and/or deleting Silverstack’s library.

Warning: This can’t be undone, deleting the library will delete all custom metadata, clip references and thumbnails. The actual clips won’t be deleted. In the following explanations, simply replace [Version] with your current major Silverstack version (e.g., 9).

1. Deleting Silverstack’s settings#

  1. Close your Silverstack version
  2. Create a backup of the following file:
    1. Silverstack XT [Version]: ~/Library/Preferences/com.pomfort.SilverstackXT[Version].plist
    2. Silverstack Lab [Version]: ~/Library/Preferences/com.pomfort.SilverstackLab[Version].plist
  3. Open up Terminal (e.g., by typing “Terminal” in the spotlight search)
  4. Type the following command in your terminal window:
    1. Silverstack XT [Version]: defaults delete com.pomfort.SilverstackXT[Version]
    2. Silverstack Lab [Version]: defaults delete com.pomfort.SilverstackLab[Version]
  5. Start your Silverstack version again

2. Deleting Silverstack’s library#

  1. Close your Silverstack version
  2. Rename the folder matching your Silverstack version in your home directory, e.g. by appending suffix “_old”:
    1. Silverstack XT [Version]: ~/Library/Application Support/Pomfort/SilverstackXT[Version]
    2. Silverstack Lab [Version]: ~/Library/Application Support/Pomfort/SilverstackLab[Version]
  3. Start your Silverstack version again and it will automatically create a new library. Silverstack should start as usual with a fresh library. If you still experience issues, please contact our support team.
