Changes in Silverstack XT and Silverstack Lab with version 9.0
“Which product variant of the Silverstack family is right for me?” has been a frequent question in the past – and the answer was not trivial. With the introduction of the new workflow-based core usage concept in Silverstack XT and Silverstack Lab 9.0, there was a need to revise the feature distribution between the products in order to give each application a consistent experience for its target group. The short answer is now:
If creating dailies is part of your job on set or near set, Silverstack Lab is the right choice for you. If not, you can rely on Silverstack XT, which has the same functionalities for asset management and QC’ing.
To better support this distinction and avoid confusion, we made some changes to the feature distribution: Some features that were previously exclusive to Silverstack Lab are now also available in Silverstack XT. Other features, that did not align with Silverstack XT’s positioning were moved to Silverstack Lab exclusively. This article gives an overview of refined product limitations. For the full list of differences, please check our Features page.
