Connecting Silverstack to ShotHub

You can share Silverstack’s library via ShotHub to keep metadata and file information synced across computers which helps working in distributed environments.

1. Syncing Silverstack’s library#

1.1 Setup a cloud project#

To use the library sync feature, you need to create Silverstack cloud project first. You can either sync a project from Silverstack with ShotHub or create a new project on ShotHub directly.

Tip: Pomfort accounts can be managed via Silverstack’s account settings. Configured accounts show up in the connection dialog when starting the upload of a new project and can also be edited in the keychain.

1.2 Connecting with the cloud project#

In general, there are two ways to connect another Silverstack application to the synced cloud project:

  1. Create a new (local) Silverstack project by syncing the library from a Silverstack cloud project
  2. Merge the local library with a Silverstack cloud project

For both ways, make sure that you have added your Pomfort Account in the application settings to be able to access the Silverstack cloud project.

1.2.1 Create a new local Silverstack project

By connecting your local project from Silverstack with a ShotHub project, you create a new local project that is “synced.” Further changes in the connected library are synced bi-directionally which means changes can be triggered from the local and the cloud project as well.

  1. Navigate to the “Project Chooser” and click the Add Project from ShotHub… button
  2. Select your Pomfort account (in case you have multiple) or sign-in to ShotHub with your Pomfort Account credentials (for first usage only)
  3. When you are ready, click Next
  4. Select your team as well as the cloud project that you want to sync with and click Next
  5. In the last step, you choose the sync options like uploading thumbnails, for example.
  6. Click Start Sync to start the process of syncing your local library with the selected ShotHub project

1.2.2 Merge local clip libraries

You can merge a local Silverstack library with one cloud project which is especially useful when you started two Silverstack projects independently from each other. That way, folders with the same name in both local libraries are merged into the synced library.

Note: Bins are never merged, even if they have the same name.
  1. Navigate to the “Project Chooser” and click the Add Project from ShotHub… button
  2. Select your account or sign in to ShotHub with your Pomfort Account credentials (for first usage only)
  3. When you are ready, click Next
  4. Select your team as well as the cloud project that you want your current local Silverstack project to appear in
  5. Click Start Sync to start the process of syncing your local library with the selected ShotHub project

Tip: If you are not using the same Pomfort Account on the other device or if you want to authorize other persons to sync with your project, you should invite them as project admins or project members to your ShotHub cloud project. Learn more about managing project members here.
