Import metadata from ScriptE

For transferring metadata captured by the script supervisor in the ScriptE app to Silverstack, a CSV can be exported from ScriptE, imported into Silverstack, and matched to clips in the Silverstack library by timecode, or start/end time, and camera.

Import a CSV file from ScriptE into Silverstack#

First, select the folder or bin in the library that you want to import metadata for. Then, select ScriptE CSV in the Import menu in the toolbar:

The Review matching ScriptE CSV clips window opens. Click Choose File… to select the CSV file exported from ScriptE.

These options can be combined to match the events from the CSV to the clips in the library:

  • by Timecode matches the timecode of the CSV entries with the timecode of the clips in the Silverstack library.
  • by Camera matches the camera field from the CSV with the camera index letter in the Silverstack library.
  • by Start/End Time matches the start and end time of the CSV entries with the clips’ recording date, refined by these options:
    • with camera time offset: Set an offset to compensate for time differences between the device running ScriptE and the camera’s internal clock.
    • Allow tolerance: Adjust a slider to set the desired tolerance (in seconds) for the matching by start/end time.

The matches are displayed in a table. The left side of the table shows existing information from the clips in the Silverstack library (e.g. TC Start, End TC, Recording Date), the right side shows information from the matched ScriptE CSV entry (e.g. Camera, TC In, TC Out, Start Time, End Time, Slate, Scene). Matched clips are indicated by a checkbox; use the buttons on the top or unselect checkboxes to adjust the selection.

As soon as you obtained a proper matching, click Continue .

Import section: Select or unselect the metadata that should be imported from the CSV to the Silverstack library. The ScriptE CSV fields are mapped to Silverstack fields as follows:

Insert/Update Behavior: Choose Insert if empty to only insert metadata into fields that are still empty, or Overwrite to force an overwrite of existing values.

Preview of Changes: The right side of the window shows a preview of the metadata changes for each matched clip. See Metadata preview before import for more details.

Click Finish to apply the metadata to the matched clips.
