Data management
Silverstack 9 supports secure, multi-destination and automated backups of any digital file format. Industry-standard hash formats like XXH64 guarantee highest security for your data and with the support of Classic and ASC media hash lists, you can even store those hashes from Silverstack within external files for handover to other systems. Using the workflow configuration window, you can automate tasks by combining multiple activities (offload, backup, transcode, upload, etc.) into a workflow that can be executed in one run on a resource like a camera magazine, or other media files. Backups and workflows can be configured very flexibly, helping you setup paths, extract file metadata, manage the verification behaviour and handle execution queues easily.

1. Offload and backup#
Many of the activities in Silverstack like backup and transcode must be started from the workflow configuration window. Therefore, we encourage you to get familiar with it’s concept and user interface. The article about configuring a workflow gives you an in-depth insight how you can create and manage workflows. Following parts 1.1 till 1.2 will already give you a good overview on how to offload camera cards with Silverstack. Path wildcards are a fundamental concept in Silverstack and help you quickly configure destination paths based on metadata.
2. Jobs view#
After you started an offload workflow, Silverstack registers the data in the library and starts executing the job. You can view and manage all activities/jobs from the jobs view. If you start a workflow, it is automatically sorted into the jobs view where you can monitor active and finished jobs.
3. Advanced workflows#
As previously mentioned, automation in Silverstack works via workflows. When you got familiar with the basics on activities and workflows, you can dive deeper by reading the articles on workflow activities and post steps.
