Silverstack’s library helps you manage all your registered assets with ease. After offloading, clips and other files become part of your library automatically and can be viewed in the library outline. In the library you can organize and sort your assets, manage your metadata, view file resources and start jobs which makes it the heart of Silverstack.

1. Getting to know Silverstack’s library and user interface#

Start by getting to know the library outline and it’s logic for organizing assets. For metadata handling, it is important to know the general info as well as to learn how to work with metadata in general. The quick metadata editing feature is a very comfortable way to edit metadata for multiple clips at once.

2. Library and metadata handling#

Silverstack uses bins to group clips together since a camera card usually represents a single bin. Within library folders you can further organize the bins, e.g. by shooting days. Beyond that, smart folders are another very convenient feature to group clips by applying specific rules. If you need to store custom metadata values for your production, custom metadata fields allow you to define your own metadata fields (which then are also shown in the general info). You can further enrich your library with metadata by using dynamic metadata that can be extracted for specific clips.

3. Library and metadata transfer#

Silverstack offers different ways to exchange libraries and their metadata between multiple workstations. Having several options to share metadata gives you more flexibility in scenarios where different Silverstack libraries are used along the production workflow: on-set for fast and secure offloading, near-set for metadata handling and in post-production houses as well.

It is possible to store your configured project settings, transfer them between workstations or use them as default for new projects.
