Input slot viewer controls
Viewer controls in input slots are used to control recording and playback of live signals and recorded clips. They are displayed in a separate bar below the image in the viewer window, both in the main view and in multi views.
Input slots are the only slot type that support slot modes. The selected mode determines which controls are shown.
Input slots support the following modes:
- Live
- Playback
- Reference
Live mode shows recording controls. Playback and reference modes show playback controls.
Recording controls in input slots (live mode)#
When an input slot is set to live mode, the viewer controls provide recording functionality. These controls allow starting recording in the slot or timecode-synced group recordings (if the slot is armed together with other slots). You can also create multiple in and out ranges while recording.
The recording controls contain the following elements:
Slot character label
Displays the slot character of the input slot.
Slot label
Displays the slot label.
Slot mode indicator
Indicates the currently active mode: live, playback, or reference.
Sync info label
For group recordings only. Displays a sync icon and the slot characters of all slots that are part of the active group recording.
Arming button
Arms or unarms the slot for the next single or group recording.
Auto record trigger indicator
Displays the status of automatic record trigger detection:
- Non-filled grey circle: no record flag or RecRun trigger detected
- Filled grey circle: record flag or RecRun trigger detected
- Filled red circle: in-camera recording in progress
Record button
Starts or stops recording. The button is red while recording.
Set marker button
Sets a marker at the current position. Depending on the library settings, this can also act as a group marker button.
Set in button
Sets a new in-point or moves an existing in-point to the current position.
Set out button
Sets a new out-point or moves an existing out-point to the current position.
Timecode label
Displays the incoming SDI timecode of the connected device or the current time as timecode, depending on the recording settings.
Scrub bar
Displays the current recording timeline.
Elapsed time label
Displays the elapsed time of the current recording.
In and out ranges
Displays marked in and out ranges visually within the scrub bar.
Playback controls in input slots (playback and reference modes)#
When an input slot is set to playback or reference mode, the viewer controls switch to playback functionality. These controls allow reviewing single recordings or timecode-synced group recordings, navigating within clips, and managing in and out ranges.
The playback controls contain the following elements:
Slot character label
Displays the slot character.
Slot label
Displays the slot label.
Slot mode indicator
Indicates the currently active mode.
Slate or clip info label
Click the label to toggle between:
- Slate information of the loaded clip
- Standard slating system: scene, shot, take
- American slating system: scene, take
- Clip name
Sync info label
For group recordings only. Displays a sync icon and the slot characters of all synced slots in the loaded group recording.
Previous frame button
Moves the playhead to the previous frame.
Next frame button
Moves the playhead to the next frame.
Play button
Starts or pauses playback. The button is blue during playback.
Jump to previous marker button
Moves the playhead to the previous marker.
Jump to next marker button
Moves the playhead to the next marker.
Set marker button
Sets a marker at the current position. Depending on the library settings, this can also act as a group marker button.
Jump to previous in button
Cycles backward through existing in-points in the clip.
Jump to next in button
Cycles forward through existing in-points in the clip.
Set or move in button
Sets a new in-point at the current position or moves an existing in-point.
Set or move out button
Sets a new out-point at the current position or moves an existing out-point.
Playback speed badge
Displays the current playback speed.
Timecode label
Displays the timecode of the loaded clip at the current playhead position.
Ranges playback mode button
Toggles between the following playback modes:
- Ignore ranges
- Current range
- All ranges
Loop playback button
Enables or disables loop playback. This can be combined with the selected ranges playback mode.
Scrub bar
Displays the clip timeline.
Elapsed time label
Displays the elapsed duration at the current playhead position.
Playhead
Indicates the current position within the scrub bar.
In and out ranges
Displays ranges visually in the scrub bar. Depending on the selected ranges playback mode, they appear highlighted or dimmed.
Markers
Displays markers in the scrub bar. The selected marker is shown as a filled symbol. Other markers are shown as outlined symbols.
Remaining time label
Displays the remaining duration of the loaded clip from the current playhead position.
