Slots view

The slots view is the central workspace for monitoring and interacting with slots in Reeltime. It provides an overview of all configured slots and allows selecting a slot to access its controls.

Slots are organized by slot type and displayed as slot cards. Each slot card shows the video signal of the slot together with status indicators and slot-specific controls.

Layout#

The slots view groups the configured slots into collapsible sections according to their slot type:

  • Input Slots
  • Library Slots
  • Composite Slots
  • Output Slots

Each section contains the slot cards belonging to that slot type.

The number and arrangement of slot cards depends on the slots configured in the project.

Slot cards#

Slots are represented in the view as slot cards. Each slot card displays:

  • a preview of the slot’s video signal
  • status indicators
  • slot-specific controls

The appearance and available controls of a slot card depend on the slot type and, for input slots, the current slot mode.

Detailed descriptions of the individual slot cards are available in the following articles:

  • Input slot card
  • Library slot card
  • Composite slot card
  • Output slot card

Selecting slots#

Selecting a slot makes it the active slot for interaction in the application.

The currently selected slot is indicated by the accent color defined by the macOS system settings. When an output slot is selected, the previously selected slot of the same type may remain indicated with an accent-colored border.

Selection states are displayed directly on the slot card using colored borders and fills.

Slot previews#

Each slot card displays a preview of the video signal associated with the slot.

Depending on the slot type and slot mode, the preview may display:

  • a live signal from a connected input device
  • playback from a recorded clip
  • a composite image created from multiple sources

Preview images update continuously while the slot is active.
