Viewer

The viewer in Livegrade offers various single- and multi-view modes, as well as various actions for recording, playback, and using markers.

The viewer always represents the image of the currently selected output. Each output can be accessed via the viewer’s header, and they can be configured via the slot manager.

The viewer in detail#

Let’s take a look on the elements that surround the viewer:

  • Viewer modes allow switching between various single- and multi-view modes. See the chapter Viewer modes for more details.
  • Selected indicates the currently selected tile of the grid.
  • Current slot shows the slot character and label of the currently selected slot. Click on this item to cycle through the output’s sources.
  • Lock allows locking/unlocking the current source configuration for the output, which includes the shown slots and the viewer mode. Useful if you are working with multiple outputs and you want one output to always stay.
  • Undock allows the viewer window to be undocked.
  • Output selector allows switching to a different output.
  • Output settings show you the settings for the current output.
  • Global metadata panel shows you all slating metadata fields for the current stage.
  • Output device allows to select an attached monitor device to show your viewer’s image on an external monitor.
  • Pipeline chooser allows the selection of the pipeline that should be shown on an attached monitor device.
  • Output filter allows to add filters, like a crop, which will be applied to your current output.
  • Loop allows the playback of the currently loaded clip to loop.
  • Shot metadata shows the slating metadata of the current slot.
  • Play/Pause allows to continue or stop playback.
  • Create still allows to create a still shot from your current frame.
  • Marker controls allow jumping to the previous/next marker, set a marker, and set a thumbnail frame.
Tip: If you are working on a small screen, the viewer can be minimized to fit into its settings by clicking on the Monitor icon in the toolbar.

Viewer modes#

The viewer has the following modes:

  • Single View always shows a slot full screen.
  • Single View – Reference shows a slot with another slot or shot that is loaded as a reference. The reference can be shown horizontally or vertically.
  • Multi-View shows multiple slots at once, where one of them is the currently selected slot.
  • Multi-View – All Input Slots shows all input slots of the current stage at once in a grid.
  • Multi-View – All Armed Input Slots shows all input slots or the current stage that are currently armed at once in a grid.
  • Multi-View – All Input + Library Slots shows all input and library slots at once in a grid.
  • Multi-View – Current Library Shots loads all shots that are currently listed in the library into temporary slots and adds them to the viewer.
  • Multi-View – Custom shows all shots that were added manually to the viewer in a grid.
Tip: All modes are available as menu items in the View menu and as Stream Deck actions.
