Library settings
The library settings define how shots are labeled, and annotated in the shot library. These settings control names for custom fields, label names, automatic label assignment, and marker categories.
All of the library settings are project-dependent, meaning they apply only to the currently opened project. Project-specific settings are labeled in the interface with “for project” followed by the project name.
To open the library settings
- open Livegrade’s settings via the main menu (Livegrade > [Settings…]) and
- select the Library tab

Titles for Custom Fields#
The custom metadata fields allow you to adapt the shot library to your needs. Use the given textfields to establish fields that are needed in the production.
Those metadata fields are also available in the Smart Group layout configuration – so you can group your shots based on your custom fields. If you don’t enter any specific names, the default names will be used.
Typical custom fields are:
- Field Size
- Camera Movement
- Point of View
- QC notes
- Break
- Lens Serial Number
Label Names#
Labels categorize shots in the shot library. They help distinguish different types of recorded or imported media in the clip library.
Each label has a color and name and can be customized for the current project.
If you don’t enter any specific names, the default names will be used.
Typical labels include:
- Shot
- Master Shots
- Additional Shots
- Reference Still
- Reference Clip
- Experimental 1
- Experimental 2
- Imported Media
Automatic Label Assignment#
Automatic label assignment defines which label is applied when a new shot is created or media is imported.
These settings help automatically categorize media in the clip library during production.
Recorded Clips pop-up menuDefines the label automatically assigned to recorded clips.
Created Stills pop-up menuDefines the label applied to created still shots.
Rehearsals pop-up menuDefines the label applied to recordings and still shots created while “Rehearsal” mode is active.
Composite Recordings pop-up menuDefines the label applied to recordings created from composite slots.
Imported Media pop-up menuDefines the label applied to imported media files.
Marker names#
Marker names define the categories available when creating markers.
Each marker type has an associated color and name and can be customized for the current project.
These marker categories help structure annotations for QC observations, continuity notes, or technical issues.
Typical marker categories include:
- Reference
- Focus
- Team
- Cam Movement
- VFX
- Lens Flare
- Lighting
- Slate
