Output settings
The output settings collect all important information and controls of the currently selected output, including
- The name of the output,
- the destination of the output,
- the possibility to add output filters, and
- actions to
- force the display mode of shown slots,
- lock the output’s configuration, and
- switch between HDR/SDR when using a 2nd look pipelnine.
Let’s go through the details.
Output settings tab#
To open the output settings:
- Click on the Output you want to set up.
- Click on the Output Settings tab within the right sidebar in the top-right of the main screen.
Output settings
Slot header#
Shows the name of the output selected slot.
If the viewer is currently hidden from the main UI, the viewer will be displayed at the very top of the slot settings.
Output name text fieldThe name of the output.
Output source options#
Lock source configuration buttonAllows locking/unlocking the current source configuration for the output, which includes the shown slots and the viewer mode. Useful if you are working with multiple outputs and you want one output to always stay.
View modes#
Within the output source options, buttons allow to switch between the following viewing modes.
- Single View: shows one source slot full-screen with the ability to show a slot or shot as reference
- Show/Hide References: shows a reference (different slot or shot from the library) that is set for the current source slot.
- Vertical Swipe: shows the reference in vertical swipe mode
- use the mouse to swipe or the slider within the “Vertical Swipe” reference settings below the destination options.
- Horizontal swipe: shows the reference in horizontal swipe mode
- use the mouse to swipe or the slider within the “Horizontal Swipe” reference settings below the destination options
- Overlay: shows the reference in overlay mode
- use the following options for “Overlay” within the “Reference Settings” below the destination options
- Extent: defines the dimensions of the final composite
- Background: uses the resolution of the loaded background plate
- Fit to Canvas: uses a fixed 16:9 canvas
- Opacity, Scale, and Offset: control the appearance and positioning of the foreground within the composite.

- use the following options for “Overlay” within the “Reference Settings” below the destination options
- Multi View: shows multiple source slots
- All Input Slots: shows all input slots of the current stage in a grid
- All Armed Input Slots: shows all armed input slots of the current stage in a grid
- All Input + Library Slots: shows all input slots and all library slots in a grid
- Current Library Shots: shows all shots which are currently listed in the shot library in a grid
- If more than 25 shots are currently listed, pagination buttons allow to go through all shots
- The maxim slots in multi-view can be changed in the “General” settings (Livegrade > Settings… > General)
- Custom: shows all slots and shots which were added to the multi-view (using OPT+Click or “Add to Multi-View” actions) in a grid
Destination options#
Destination label
Destination of the output. Most commonly a video output device which feeds a monitor via SDI. Extension modules allow for further destinations such as local and internet streams. Can be configured in the slot manager.
Pipeline toggle
[Only available if “Use 2nd Pipeline” is activated in Livegrade’s “Grading” settings.]
Select whether the HDR or SDR pipeline should be applied to the image when it is passed to the output device.
Output filter settings#
Filters several controls
A list which shows all filters which will be applied to the current output. Filters can be ordered by dragging them with the mouse.
