Main screen overview

The main screen of Livegrade contains all the primary controls for operating the software.

Among other things, you can set up the look pipeline, color grade signals from multiple cameras, configure multiple outputs, set markers, enter metadata, and manage created stills and recorded clips in the shot library.

All controls in the main window can also be found in the main menu and can be triggered by keyboard shortcuts, associated Stream Deck, and Tangent controller actions. Some elements offer a context menu with additional options on a right-click (or option-click), for example, shots in the clip library.

Let’s examine the main screen and highlight the most important sections to assist with orientation.

Toolbar
Provides buttons to access various actions in Livegrade, e.g., starting a recording, creating stills, enabling exposure assist, applying a look, changing the project, or showing and hiding the left and right sidebar.

Viewer
Provides various single and multi-view modes and access to multiple outputs.

Right sidebar
Containing output settings and the global metadata panel.

Slot panel
Containing slot settings, slot metadata or clip details, markers, look library and scopes.

Slot settings
Containing all settings for a slot, e.g., grading mode and output colorspace.

Slot metadata
Containing fields for entering camera-specific metadata for the upcoming shot or managing metadata of a loaded shot.

Markers
Various actions to set and navigate between markers.

Preset library
Collects look and node presets.

Scopes
Offer tools to measure the luminance and colors of an image.

Grade controls
Allow to adjust the look of an input signal or of a loaded shot of your library.

Node list
Listing all your nodes of your current look.

Slots
The heart of Livegrade’s signal routing and grading capabilities. Intended to adjust and route image signals and stored media items.

Slots sub toolbar
Covering actions for slots, e.g. adding a library slot, changing the slot size and buttons to show/hide certain slot types.

Global metadata (quick view)
Showing the most important slating metadata fields

Shot library
Shows all collected shots and allows to quickly access references and looks which are associated with production- and camera specific metadata.Smart groups .

Left sidebar
Contains views to organize the shot library. The folder outline, which allows to add and order folders, and smart groups, which allow to sort the whole library in groups based on metadata like scene/shot/take.
