Frame Lines filter
The Frame Lines filter provides tools for defining, displaying, and styling up to four independent frame lines that can represent framing decisions, protection areas, and canvas boundaries.
This reference article describes the filter’s UI elements and gives a short explanation for each parameter, while the article Working with frame lines provides an in-depth guide to creating and importing frame lines.

Filter settings for frame lines
Filter settings UI#
The frame line filter consists of the following UI elements:
The ellipsis button gives access to additional actions, including saving and applying filter presets (see Filter presets) and loading XML or FDL files for importing frame lines in ARRI FLLIT XML and ASC FDL formats.
The segmented control presents four frame line tabs, with Frame Line 1 (Framing Decision) and Frame Line 4 (Canvas) enabled by default. Each tab displays a thin colored line beneath it when its frame line is visible, using the color assigned to that frame line.
The reset button next to segmented control lets you reset the currently selected frame line to the system’s default value. Like in other filters, there is also a reset button in the filter header that resets the whole filter to its default values
Adjust All Frame Lines button enables a dedicated mode for geometry adjustments to all frame lines based on Frame Line 4 (Canvas). The aspect ratio is not editable while adjusting all frame lines together.
Frame Line box#
- Name shows a default label for each frame line: Framing Decision (1), Framing Decision Protection (2), Effective Canvas (3), and Canvas (4). You can rename these as needed.
- Visibility state is reflected by the colored indicator under the tab:
- Show sets the frame line as visible and displays a colored line under the tab.
- Hide sets the frame line as not visible and displays no colored line.
Geometry box#
- Ratio provides a dropdown with all common aspect ratios.
- Custom allows entering a custom aspect ratio in the format XYZ:1.
- Scale adjusts the size of the frame line and can compensate for display offsets caused by the camera OSD in SDI signals.
- Offset X moves the frame line horizontally.
- Offset Y moves the frame line vertically.
Appearance box#
- Style provides options for defining the appearance of the frame line, including Full Box, Top/Bottom, Left/Right, Corner, Tick Width and Tick Height.
- Size provides length presets—Regular, Short, Medium, and Long.
- Center provides center mark options: None, Cross, Small Cross, Dot, and Small Dot.
- Location determines whether the frame line is drawn inside or outside the defined area.
- Shading applies shading to the area outside the frame line using a 0–100% slider.
- Width sets the line thickness using a 1–16 slider.
- Color is defined using R/G/B numeric fields and a color picker.
- Opacity adjusts the transparency using a 0–100% slider.
