Setting up IS-Mini

Livegrade comes with support for the following IS-mini LUT box devices:

  • IS-mini 4K
  • IS-miniX
  • IS-mini
  • IS-miniX Rack4K
  • IS-mini Rack4K
Note: As the IS-mini integration does not run under M1 natively, make sure to install Rosetta on your machine. However, you do not need to open Livegrade using Rosetta as the IS-mini integration will run in its dedicated service in the background.

Adding IS-mini as look device#

To exchange look information with Livegrade, the IS-mini needs to have a working USB or network connection with the mac where Livegrade is running.

Note: It is recommended to connect the IS-mini via USB.

Once a connection between the IS-mini device and your computer is established, launch Livegrade and then proceed to add the IS-mini as a device. In order to do that,

Open the slot manager

  • by clicking on the Slot Manager symbol in the toolbar or
  • via the menu: Livegrade > [Slot Manager…]

Open Slot Manager

In the slot manager, click on the input you want to add the device to.

Enable IS-mini discovery#

If this is the first time you want to add an IS mini as device, you need to enable the discovery service first.

To do so,

  • click on + Add Device in the Look Devices section and select “Enable IS-mini discovery”. Livegrade will then be able to detect IS-mini devices currently connected to the computer.
  • Alternatively, you can “Enable IS-mini discovery” also in the “Devices” tab of Livegrade’s settings (open via Livegrade > [Settings…]).

Add IS-mini to slot#

After you enabled IS-mini discovery, you can add your IS mini LUT box to your slot.

To do so,

  • click on + Add Device in the Look Devices section and select the IS mini LUT box you want to add.

Configuring IS-mini#

While adding an IS-mini, you have the following options to configure the device:

  • MAC Address: MAC address of the IS-mini device.
  • ANC metadata: choose your camera’s manufacturer for appropriate detection of ANC metadata
  • Look Update: Choose how to update the look on the device.
    • Interactive
      • Adjustments of the look will be sent immediately to the device.
    • Manual Upload
      • Adjustments of the look will be sent on “Upload Look” actions. These actions are available as menu items (Slots > [Upload Look to Device(s)] menu), Toolbar button, Stream Deck and Tangent action
  • Pipeline: choose whether the HDR or SDR pipeline should be sent to the LUT box
    • Note: this option is only available if “Use 2nd Pipeline” is activated in Livegrade’s grading settings.
  • Signal Ranges: choose the signal ranges for the original camera signal feeding the LUT box (In ) and the signal leaving the graded output of the LUT box (Out )
  • Frame Grab:
    • activate Continuously refresh frame grab to get automatically frame grabs from the device in the set interval
      • Note: a frame grab will only be sent to Livegrade if the frame grab is chosen in at least one slot as image source

Finally, click on Connect to add the device to the slot. After that the current look of the corresponding input slot will always be sent to the grading device as long as the input slot is in Live mode.

In order to change the configuration of the device

  • disconnect the device via pressing the Disconnect button
  • change the configuration and
  • press Connect to connect to the device again
Note: When using the IS-mini 4K it is only recommended to enable frame grab for HD video signals due to hardware limitations.
