Setting up FSI XMP monitor

Livegrade comes with support for the Flanders Scientific FSI XMP monitors that enables you to control the look ofup to 4 SDI channels by using a network connection.

This article is representatively tailored to the Flanders Scientific XMP 310. A list of all the FSI DM and XMP monitors supported can be found in the Knowledge Base article All Supported Devices in Livegrade.

Adding an FSI XMP monitor as a look device#

In order to exchange look information with Livegrade, the FSI XMP monitor needs to

run on XMP firmware 3.2.10 or later
have a working network connection with the computer where Livegrade is running on.
be set to Input Color Mode -> Global from the monitor’s Color-Input menu.

Once the network connection has been established, you can check the IP address of the monitor.

In order to configure the monitor’s IP address:

Go to the Main Menu -> System -> Current IP

Note: It is strongly recommended to connect the device hard-wired via ethernet.

Once you have obtained the device’s IP address, you can add the FSI monitor to any input slot using the slot manager.

Open the slot manager

by clicking on the Slot Manager symbol in the toolbar or
via the menu: Livegrade > [Slot Manager…]

In the slot manager, click on the input you want to add the device to.

Within an input click on + Add Device in the Look Devices section and select FSI XMP Monitor to add the monitor to your slot.

After adding the FSI XMP monitor a configuration form will appear.

Configure and connect FSI XMP monitor#

Host textfieldEnter the device’s IP address

Look Update toggleChoose whether the look should be updated interactively or manually.

Interactive: Look will be updated several times as second
Manual Upload: Look in device will be updated when triggering “Upload Look to Device(s)”. This action can be triggered
- via a dedicated button in the main toolbar
- via the main menu (Slots > Upload Look to Device(s))
- via Stream Deck action
- via Tangent actionor manually (via “Upload Look to Device” action, which can be triggered by menu items, toolbar buttons, Stream Deck and Tangent actions)

Finally, click on Connect to add the device to the slot. After that the current look of the corresponding input slot will always be sent to the grading device as long as the input slot is in Live mode.

Change configuration#

In order to change the configuration of the device

disconnect the device via pressing the Disconnect button
change the configuration and
press Connect to connect to the device again

Configure channels#

After connecting to the device, all available channels of the device will be listed.

On first connect, the first channel will be assigned to the current slot.

Assign channel to a different slot#

Select another slot in the slot list on the left side
Click on the “+ Add Device” button
All available channels will be listed at the top of the list
Select the channel you want to assign

Change the assignment of a channel#

Disconnect the device via pressing the Disconnect button
Enable/disable the toggle next to the channel you want to assign
Press Connect to connect to the device again

Change HDR/SDR pipeline#

Note: This option is only available if “Use 2nd Pipeline” is activated in Livegrade’s grading settings

If you are on a dual monitoring workflow, you can decide whether your channel should receive the HDR or SDR look.

In order to configure that

Disconnect the device via pressing the Disconnect button
Chose the HDR/SDR option within each channel
- Optional: if you want to see the SDR look within an HDR container, enable the SDR display simulation option
Press Connect to connect to the device again

Store LUT permanently on device#

The action to store the current look of a slot to the channel of the FSI XMP monitor can be triggered via the main menu or automatically triggered when quitting Livegrade.

To manually trigger the action

Select* Slots > *Permanently store current looks on devices… via the main menu

To automatically trigger the action when quitting Livegrade

Check Store look in devices when quitting Livegrade in the Devices tab of Livegrade settings

On FSI XMP monitors, LUTs are stored in the monitors LUTs 1, 2, 3, and 4, with each corresponding to channel 1 through 4.
