Settings view

The settings view can be reached at any time from the main view by tapping anywhere on the screen and tapping the settings button at the top left side of the screen. On iPads and larger-sized iPhones the settings are displayed as a sidebar, on regular-sized iPhones as full-screen view.

Within the settings view you can manage your Livegrade server connections and configure your desired screen layout and source streams.

Additionally, you can reach the about panel with help, credits and acknowledgements and open the app’s homepage.

Layout#

In the layouts section you can configure your desired screen layout and choose from the available streams as source for each viewer.

You can choose from six different screen layouts:

  • 1: 1×1 view
  • 2: 2×1 view (landscape mode) or 1×2 view (portrait mode)
  • 3: 3×1 view (landscape mode) or 1×3 view (portrait mode)
  • 4: 2×2 view
  • 5: 1+2 view (1-up-2-bottom)
  • 6: 1+3 view (1-up-3-bottom)

For each viewer window you can choose a source from the available streams:

  • The stream names derive from the output slot names in Livegrade
  • Choose “Empty” if you would like to remove a stream source from a viewer window

Servers#

The settings view opens up automatically if you have not connected to any server yet. The servers section lists all Livegrade servers available in the local network under Servers > Discovered. When connecting to a server for the first time, you must enter the server’s local streaming password provided to you by the DIT (see the local streaming settings in Livegrade).

  • A pulsing red antenna icon indicates that the app waiting for a server to connect.
  • A green filled circle in the server section indicates a connected server.
  • A red filled circle indicates a disconnected server.
  • A red strike-through key icon indicates a wrong password.

If a server is not connected, there may be various reasons:

  • Livegrade is currently not running on the server’s machine
  • You are no longer in the same network as the server
  • Your network connection is insufficient (e.g., due to a low/unstable Wifi signal)
  • The server’s local streaming password was entered incorrectly or has been changed

Once a server is connected successfully, all the local streams from the server are available as sources to choose from in the layouts section.

Connect to a server manually

In certain network configurations, automatic server discovery may not work as expected.

If you know the IP address of the Livegrade server, you can also connect to a server manually by tapping on the (+) symbol and entering the server’s IP address and password.
