Monitor window

The monitor window is the standard view of Livegrade Cinema. It shows up to four streams in a selectable layout and can be placed freely in space. Several windows can be open at the same time, each with its own layout and stream assignment.

Window and sizing#

The window is moved and resized like any other visionOS window: pinch and drag the window bar to move it, and pinch and drag the resize control in the bottom corners to resize it. The app keeps the resize proportional, so the image always retains its aspect ratio. The proportions follow the aspect ratio of the incoming video, the number of tiles in the selected layout, and the info bar when it is docked.

A change to the layout or to the info bar therefore reshapes the window at its current size, and a manual resize is followed by the window snapping back to the proportions of its content. Opening the sidebar widens the window.

Each window is created with the New Window button and keeps its layout and stream assignment across relaunches.

Bottom ornament bar#

The ornament bar below the window holds the following buttons, from left to right.

Settings button
Shows and hides the sidebar with the Servers, Streams, Settings, and About tabs.

New Window button
Opens an additional monitor window with its own layout and stream assignment.

Still image button
Saves a still image of every stream in the window to the Photos library. The button is disabled while no stream is assigned.

Info bar style button
Switches the stream info bar between the overlay style and the pinned style. The setting applies to all windows.

Lock Mode button
Enables and disables lock mode. The icon shows the current state: a closed lock means the app is locked.

Stream info bar#

The stream info bar shows the metadata of the stream. Two styles are available, selected with the info bar style button in the ornament bar:

• Overlay — the bar floats over the lower edge of the image. A single tap on the image shows it, and it hides again after five seconds.
• Pinned — the bar is docked below the image and stays visible. The window grows to accommodate it.

The bar contains, from left to right: an icon showing whether the slot is in live or playback mode, the stream title, the slate badges “SCN”, “SHO”, and “TAK” with their values, the clip name, an optional buffer summary badge, the timecode, and a button for saving a still image.

When the width is not sufficient for the full contents, the title and clip information are progressively shortened and finally omitted. If a clip carries no name, the bar shows “No Clip Name”.

Still images#

A still image of a single stream is saved with the still image button in its info bar. The still image button in the ornament bar saves an image of every stream in the window.

The first save asks for permission to add images to the Photos library. Depending on the result, one of the following messages is shown: “Image saved to Photos”, “You need to allow access to Photos in your settings” with the subtitle “Open Settings”, or “Could not save image to Photos”.

Lock mode#

Lock mode removes the configuration and diagnosis features from the interface for undisturbed viewing. It hides the sidebar, removes the Settings and New Window buttons from the ornament bar, and disables the diagnosis functions.

When a stream cannot be shown, the reason is displayed over the image area:

Entering the immersive modes#

While the controls are visible (temporarily, by tapping on the image content), a button in the upper right corner of a stream’s image area opens an immersive mode. Which mode it opens depends on the codec of the stream: immersive local stream (stereo, MV-HEVC) streams open the Immersive view, all regular local streams open the Cinema view.

Entering an immersive mode hides all app windows. They are restored when it is left.
