Troubleshooting Sony VENICE 2 auto record issues
If SDI record triggering or metadata is not working correctly when using Sony VENICE 2 with Livegrade, please verify both the camera configuration and the Livegrade input settings. Certain SDI output modes and trigger selections directly affect record flag and metadata availability.
Required camera settings#
On the camera:
- In the Full Menu, go to Technical > System Configuration > SDI Rec Remote Trigger
- Set this to “HD SDI Remote I/F”.

SDI output limitation:
If the SDI output is set to 6G or 12G, metadata is only available on output ports 1 and 2. Please ensure you are connected to the correct SDI ports when working in these modes.
Livegrade configuration#
In Livegrade version 7.1 or newer:
- Set the camera type to “Sony” for the corresponding input in the Slot Manager.
- For AJA, DELTACAST, and Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro (Desktop Video v15.3.1 or newer required), select “Record Flag (HANC)” as the record trigger.
- For other Blackmagic video I/O devices, select “Sony Clip Name” as the record trigger.
If the issue continues after applying these settings, please contact support and include:
- Camera firmware version
- Livegrade version
- Video I/O device model
- SDI output format (HD / 6G / 12G)
- A short description of your setup
This configuration has been validated in our lab (with camera firmware version 4.0) and should ensure stable record trigger and metadata transmission with Sony VENICE 2.
