Using composite slots

This article covers features that require activation via a module license.

A composite slot represents a composite of multiple input or library slots. It can be used to

• blend a foreground and a background plate
• configure a grid using multiple layout options

Adding and deleting a composite slot can be done via the ellipsis menu in the slot’s subtoolbar.

Configuring a composite slot can be done via the slot settings, which can be found in the slot panel on the bottom-right in the main screen.

The following slot settings are only available in composite slots activated by theOutputs and streaming module:

• Layout
  • Side by side (2×1)
    • show two slots side by side and change their orientation to – or + 90° if needed
  • Side by side (3×1)
    • show two slots side by side and change their orientation to – or + 90° if needed
  • Grid (2×2)
    • show four slots in a quad grid
  • Grid (3×2)
    • show six slots in a 3×2 grid
  • Grid (3×3)
    • show nine slots in a 3×3 grid
• Sources
  • chose the slot(s) which should be shown
• Stage
  • Selects the stage where the composite slot belongs to

The following slot settings are only available in composite slots activated by the Key and mix module:

• Layout
  • Side by side (2×1)
    • show two slots side by side and change their orientation to – or + 90° if needed
  • Overlay
    • overlay two slots, e.g., a foreground over a background for a green screen composite
• Sources
  • chose the slot(s) which should be shown
• Stage
  • Selects the stage where the composite slot belongs to

Grading sources of composite#

A composite slot can be seen as a container for multiple source slots. To grade the individual parts of the composite, select the source slots and grade them.

If you want to avoid the current output changing its source when selecting an input slot instead of the composite slot, you can lock the output first.
