Setting up Disguise system

This article covers features that require activation via a module license.

Livegrade comes with support for interactive CDL control of Disguise systems. This feature enables you to grade content like a video layer in a Disguise system via a network connection.

Note: The integration only supports CDL-based look modifications. Consequently, loading a LUT into Livegrade’s LUT node will not affect the look in the Disguise system.

Prerequisites#

You can control CDLs in a Disguise Designer project on a machine in a network you connect to via IP (LAN or Wifi depending on your connection). Make sure there is at least one CDL (or multiple CDLs) set up in your Disguise Designer project. You can choose the CDL you want to grade from a CDL list loaded upon adding the Disguise system to a slot.

Adding a Disguise system as look device#

Once a connection is established, you can launch Livegrade and add the Disguise system as a device to an input slot using the slot manager.

Open the slot manager

by clicking on the Slot Manager symbol in the toolbar or
via the menu: Livegrade > [Slot Manager…]

In the slot manager, click on the input you want to add the device to.

Within an input click on + Add Device in the Look Devices section to add your Disguise system to the slot.

While adding a Disguise system, you have the following options to configure the device:

Host textfield
Enter the IP address of the computer running Disguise. If the computer should be accessed via a custom port, add a : to the IP address followed by the port (Example: 192.168.1.2:8001)

CDL dropdown menu and refresh button
Once you entered the IP address, press the refresh button to retrieve available CDLs in Disguise. Then, select the CDL you want to control via the dropdown menu.

Look Update toggle
Choose how to update the look on the device.

Interactive
- Adjustments of the look will be sent immediately to the device.
Manual Upload
- Adjustments of the look will be sent on “Upload Look” actions. These actions are available as menu items (Slots > [Upload Look to Device(s)] menu), Toolbar button, Stream Deck and Tangent action

Connect button
Click on Connect to add the device to the slot. After that the current look of the corresponding input slot will always be sent to the look device as long as the input slot is in Live mode.Livegrade is then able to control the LUT of the device.

Remove button
Click on Remove to remove the device from the slot. After that the current look of the corresponding input slot won’t be sent to the look device anymore.

Note: If you want to control multiple Disguise CDLs, you can add each CDL you want to grade to a separate slot.
