Accessing slot metadata

Livegrade shows the metadata fields of a slot in two dedicated locations: the slot’s view and the Metadata tab of the slot panel. This article explains how to access both locations and how to show or hide them using the main menu, on-screen controls, and Stream Deck actions.

For an explanation of global and slot metadata and how to collect it while shooting, see Collecting global and slot metadata. For a detailed description of all fields and controls available in the slot panel’s metadata tab, see Slot metadata.

Metadata in the slot’s view#

By default, each slot in the main screen shows a preview image. You can switch the slot’s view to show metadata fields instead of, or alongside, the preview.

To change how slots are displayed, use one of the following:

  • The main menu: View > Show Slot As > [Metadata only]
  • The buttons in the slots subtoolbar: Tabs only , Previews , Metadata only , Previews and Metadata
  • Stream Deck actions: Show Slot As Metadata Only, Show Slot As Preview, Show Slot As Preview and Metadata

When “Metadata only” or “Previews and Metadata” is active, drag the splitter below the slots to the bottom to enlarge the metadata table and show more fields at once. Livegrade retains the splitter position separately for the metadata view and the preview view, so switching between the two does not reset the size you previously set for either one.

Tip: Tip: Use the ellipsis (…) menu of a slot and select Metadata Fields to configure which fields are shown when a slot is displayed as “Metadata only” or “Previews and Metadata”.

Metadata in the slot panel#

The Metadata tab of the slot panel, in the bottom-right of the main screen, always shows all metadata fields of the currently selected slot, independent of the slot’s view setting described above.

To show or hide the slot panel, or to switch directly to its Metadata tab, use the following Stream Deck actions:

  • Toggle Show/Hide Slot Panel: shows or hides the slot panel.
  • Show Metadata: switches the slot panel to the Metadata tab.
